Through a gazette notification, the central government has banned 156 Fixed Dose Combination (FDC) drugs on August 21, 2024.
These medicines combine more than one chemical in a single pill or syrup or injection, some of which are not necessary and can be harmful. These FDC drugs are also known as cocktail drugs.
In the present case, the banned drugs contain Amylase, Protease, Glucoamylase, Pectinase, Alpha Galactosidase, Lactase, Beta-Gluconase, Cellulase, Lipase, Bromelain, Xylanase, Hemicellulase, Malt diastase, Invertase, Papain, in addition to common medicines for fever and pain relief, and multivitamins.
